BENTON COUNTY, Tenn. (WKRN) – A community outreach center in Big Sandy is raising money to help a volunteer whose son was shot during the Las Vegas concert attack.

According to Minister Greg Hauck with Big Sandy Christian Community Outreach Center, Jason McMillan was shot twice in the chest during the incident Sunday night and was taken to an area hospital.

Hauck said Jason McMillan is in serious but stable condition.

McMillan’s father Mike is a volunteer at the outreach center where he helps deliver meals to homes every day.

Minister Hauck said Mike McMillan attended a daytime prayer service Monday for Sonny Melton, a 29-year-old Big Sandy nurse who died after shielding his wife Heather from bullets.

When Mike McMillan returned home, he had a message that his son had been shot in the same attack.COMPLETE COVERAGE: Las Vegas concert attack

Mike McMillan is disabled and recovering from cancer treatment.

His plane ticket and hotel costs have been covered, the minister said, but he will need money for other costs while there with his son.

The community outreach center plans to have an account set up Tuesday. Information will be posted at the center’s website.
