Metro police have increased patrols in parts of East Nashville and Madison following three murders and several other crimes this month.
During a Friday news conference, police said similar vehicle and suspect descriptions have detectives investigating the possibility of a connection between the incidents.
On Wednesday, August 8, a woman was shot in the back while walking her dog around 1 a.m. on Moss Rose Drive in East Nashville. She suffered serious injuries but did survive.
Nearly one week later, on August 14, Kendall Rice was gunned down in an apparent robbery.
Police said the 31-year-old was walking along Alta Loma Road in Madison around 5 a.m. to catch a bus to work when he was killed.
There was another deadly robbery Friday around 3:30 a.m. outside of Cobra Nashville, an East Nashville bar on Gallatin Avenue.
Bartley “Brandon” Teal was shot and killed on his 33rd birthday. Jaime Sarrantonio was murdered alongside him.
In all of three of those crimes, the getaway vehicle was described as a dark-colored sedan.
Police released an image showing the sedan sought in the shooting outside Cobra Nashville.
In that double murder, witnesses had only an incredibly vague suspect description of two black males, one with dreadlocks.
Detectives had already said they were investigating a possible connection between Tuesday’s shooting death of Kendall Rice and two other robberies the same morning.
A short time after Rice was killed, a man was critically wounded when he was shot at the Falcon View Apartments on East Palestine Avenue.
There was also an attempted robbery at the Rivergate Meadows Apartments in Goodlettsville. Two men armed with a rifle tried to rob a man who was able to get away.
With increased patrols in the areas of these crimes, officers are asking people to be cautious and report any unusual activity.
Information on the crimes can be directed to Nashville Crimestoppers at 615-74-CRIME.
