1 dead after vehicle fire in Davidson County; Arsonist sought

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WKRN) — An investigation is underway after a body was found in a burned minivan in northern Davidson County Tuesday night.

Officials arrived at the Parkway Baptist Church on Cunniff Parkway in the Goodlettsville area around 8:40 p.m. and found a silver minivan fully engulfed in flames and smoke. Once the fire was extinguished, a body was found inside the van. The victim has yet to be identified.

Investigators with the Nashville Fire Department are looking for an arsonist who intentionally set the fire and left the scene. Metro police, the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation and the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives are also assigned to the case.

Anyone with information on the incident is asked to call the Tennessee Arson Hotline at 1-800-762-3017. There is a cash reward of up to $5,000 for information leading to an arrest or conviction.

The pastor of the church said his congregation is praying for the victim and people involved and they are cooperating with authorities.
