Metro officer injured in head-on crash; driver charged

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WKRN) - A Metro police officer was injured in a head-on crash Wednesday night and a 19-year-old has been charged with evading arrest because police said he ran from the crash. 

It happened along Buena Vista Pike near the Bordeaux community around 7:30 p.m. Wednesday.

Metro police said an officer initially tried to stop the driver for an expired license plate. 

As the officer was getting out of his car, the driver made a sudden U-turn and crashed head-on into another patrol car, according to Metro police.  

The second officer who was hit suffered a broken ankle.  

According to an affidavit, the driver ran from the crash but was taken into custody after a brief foot chase. 

The driver, Jermain Brown Jr. was detained and is charged with 2 counts of evading arrest.
