Medical student hit by car near Vanderbilt University

WKRN web staff - NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WKRN) - A medical student was hit by a car Monday night in the Hillsboro-West End neighborhood next to Vanderbilt University.

Police were called to the intersection of Natchez Trace and Blakemore Avenue after 8:10 p.m.

The student was crossing Natchez Trace in a crosswalk when the accident happened.

Police on the scene told News 2 the victim was transported to Vanderbilt's hospital for treatment. The injuries are said to be not life-threatening.

The driver remained on the scene to speak to officers, who closed the road for just under two hours.

Authorities remain at the scene to investigate. Further details have yet to be released.
