Man shot to death during confrontation inside Nashville home

A man was shot in the head and died Wednesday afternoon inside a home near Brick Church Pike in northeast Nashville, and a search was launched for the suspect.

Metro police say the motive behind the afternoon shooting on Chesapeake Drive remains unclear.

According to a witness, the gunman entered the home and shot  John Beers during a confrontation. The 49-year-old was transported to Vanderbilt University where he died.

The alleged gunman reportedly remains at large. Authorities searched the area both on ground and in the air with the use of a helicopter.

The suspect is described as a black man in his 40s or 50s with a deep voice.
