A man is linked to four attacks on women in Nashville, with one attack captured on video.
25-year-old Devon Gooden was arrested Feb. 28 for a sexual assault that took place on Feb. 10. Gooden has since been linked to three other crimes against women.
Gooden has been connected to an assault and robbery on Jan. 27 that happened on Elliott Avenue. The attack was caught on camera.
The video shows the victim putting items into her car when a man passes by on, what police say, is a Lime scooter. You see the man then make a U-turn and drop the scooter.
The man grabs the woman from behind. The police report says he tried to cover her mouth with his hand, but the victim fights back.
She kicks and screams and continues to scream as she runs away.
“It’s just chilling that it was happening to a person right outside my house,” said Chris Aycock. His home surveillance cameras recorded the attack. “I just felt so poorly for her.”
Aycock turned the video over to police, which investigators say, helped them identify Gooden.
“Once she was attacked, she did the right thing,” said Aycock. “She screamed her head off and once the perp let go, she ran.”
Neighbor Matt Walter also heard the screams.
“It made the hair on the back of my neck stand up,” he told News 2. “I think it may have saved her life or at least saved her from any harm because you look at self-defense classes and that’s what they teach women: scream as loud as you can.”
Gooden has also been linked to an attempted robbery on 8th Avenue S. on Jan. 27, an aggravated robbery on Feb. 10 on Grand Avenue, and a sexual assault on Feb. 21 on Horton Avenue.
Police say Gooden was caught on video surveillance after the sexual assault. He allegedly confessed to several of the crimes.
The victims are all women and they live a few miles apart from each other and Gooden’s home.
The victim’s phone was stolen during the Jan. 27 attack but she was able to get away, physically unharmed.
