A man serving time in an Arizona federal prison for a drug conviction has returned to Nashville to face a first-degree murder charge for the 1994 death of another man.
John Derrick Martin, a 47-year-old convicted cocaine felon, was indicted in 2002 for the March 21, 1994 shooting death of Julian Clark.
Metro police said Clark, 27, was murdered at his apartment on Brentridge Circle in South Nashville, the day he was set to testify against Martin in Criminal Court.
Martin was later indicted in 2002 on a first-degree murder charge.
He was held in the Central Arizona Correctional Facility on other charges but was brought back to Nashville on Saturday.
No additional details have been released.
Martin is being held in the Metro jail with no bond.
