Man charged in fatal Cumberland County wrong-way crash

A wrong-way driver was on drugs when he caused a head-on crash Saturday morning in Cumberland County that killed an 85-year-old Crossville woman, investigators said.

The crash happened around 10:30 a.m. on State Highway 101.

According to a crash report from Tennessee Highway Patrol, 40-year-old Jamie Richards had used unspecified drugs and was driving the wrong way when he slammed his car head-on into a sedan.

85-year-old Bessie Huxoll, a passenger in the sedan was killed, while the driver suffered unknown injuries.

The crash report stated that Richards was charged in the crash but investigators did not release the exact charge or charges.
