A man banned from all Krogers is accused of stealing from the same store on two occasions.
Michael Gaines, 60, is charged with theft and burglary.
According to his arrest affidavit, employees at the Kroger at 5771 Nolensville Pike reported someone stole nearly $200 worth of items. The theft was captured on surveillance video and shows a suspect putting items in a cart and walking past the registers without paying.
Store employees followed the suspect to the parking lot and got a license plate number, according to police. Officers say those employees were able to get the cart away, recovering most of the stolen items. This was February 25.
A few days later, officers at the same Kroger say the same suspect came back to the store and stole about $300 worth of items. Employees told officers they recognized the suspect as the same man from a few days before.
Officers say Gaines has been arrested for stealing from Kroger before and was “explicitly banned and made aware he was not allowed on any Kroger property.”
