A man will face charges in Bedford County after Sheriff’s deputies say he shot livestock with a rifle Tuesday afternoon.
Ethan Barrett is charged with three counts of vandalism and three counts of aggravated animal cruelty.
Ethel, a 20-year-old horse, died after the incident.
“We’ve had her since she was a year old, she was the last horse that my deceased sister picked out and bought before she died, so she had quite a bit of sentimental value for our family”, said owner Rhonda Cato.
“They could have hit anybody, and I’m pro-gun all the way. I think everybody has a right to own them, but they do not need to be in the hands of fools like that.”
Barrett’s bond was set at $30,000.
