A man has been charged in connection with a brutal attack on an apparent stranger last year inside of a Nashville market.

James Christopher Hood, 29, was arrested Monday on charges including aggravated assault, vandalism and criminal impersonation.

On April 27, 2018, Metro police said a woman was shopping at a market in the Antioch area, though the name of the market was not listed.

When she placed items on the counter, she said a man she did not know came up behind her, beat her repeatedly in the side of her head, put her in a choke hold, knocked out her hearing aid and ran off with an unidentified female.

Surveillance video from inside the market captured the incident, police said.

The victim was transported to a hospital in the Nashville area for treatment of injuries.

Hood was booked into the Hill Detention Center on Monday morning.
