Witnesses: 4 armed teens flee on foot after chase in stolen car, hit-and-run crash in Antioch

Local News

Police are reportedly searching for four teenage suspects after they allegedly stole someone’s car and then caused a hit-and-run crash while trying to evade the carjacking victim’s cousin who followed them late Wednesday morning in Antioch.

The incident happened on the 3600 block of Hamilton Church Road near Maroney Drive just after 10 a.m. Four vehicles were involved in the crash. It is unclear the extent of the other drivers’ injuries.

A victim on the scene told News 2 she was driving when a black Jeep Cherokee hit her. After the crash, she said four teenagers bailed out of the car and ran away. She said the Jeep was being chased by another car before the crash.

According to the man driving the third vehicle, he was chasing the car because it had just been stolen outside a convenience store after his cousin left it running and went inside.

The man said the teens sped up once they realized he was following them in the stolen SUV. The driver of the stolen Jeep reportedly lost control of the vehicle, struck the woman’s car and ran off the roadway before the teens jumped out and ran away.

According to a third witness on the scene, at least two of the teens were armed.

Police have formed a perimeter and are searching the ground. Air 1 was also deployed to perform an aerial search.

A News 2 crew is on the scene to confirm more information.
