LEBANON, Tenn. (WKRN) – A Wilson County family is mourning after a senseless murder early Saturday morning.
It happened just off the downtown square in Lebanon. Early Saturday morning, two men got into a confrontation in the P lot that quickly turned tragic.
Justin Morgan died at Tennova Hospital in Lebanon. He was 27-years-old.
“He was a wonderful human being and father and my best friend,” said Amanda Morgan, Justin’s wife.
Justin Morgan was a husband, the father of two small children, and a good son to his parents Carol and Donny.
“I want people to know how loving he was. He was a genuinely great guy with a huge heart. He would have given the shirt off his back to anyone in need. He had a genuine love for people in general,” said Amanda Morgan.
Amanda says the tragic loss of her husband has been overwhelming to the family.
“Yes, I’m overwhelmed, but I’m also full of love that has been outpoured to me from my friends and family and from Jesus.”
Police say what started as a verbal altercation between two acquaintances quickly turned lethal when Jamie Becker pulled out a knife and stabbed Justin Morgan in the abdomen.
It was an attack so vicious; the 27-year-old’s internal organs were exposed.
Lebanon police Officer Sean Gilley was on routine patrol when he spotted the crime. He saw two people run to a nearby truck and speed away.
He rushed to the aid of the dying man, who was bleeding badly in the parking lot and still able to communicate to the young officer.
“He applied pressure, noticed it was a rather large laceration to the point that organs were exposed,” said Sgt. PJ Hardy with Lebanon Police Department.
Justin Morgan was pronounced dead at the hospital. Jamie Becker was located at another location and arrested in connection with the crime.
“This all happened over a misunderstanding between Justin and a guy who was intoxicated,” said Amanda. “And I just don’t know what was going through this man’s head when this altercation happened, but I do know that my husband was a good man and he did not deserve any of this.”
Becker is in the Wilson County Jail. The 42-year-old is charged with murder. He has no bond.
He also refused to comment to News 2.
At the time of the murder, Becker was out of prison on parole from Missouri, he was serving time for vehicular manslaughter.
