Traffic was stopped on Interstate 40 in Cheatham County early Saturday morning after two separate crashes, one involving a truck carrying 40,000 pounds of broccoli, according to Tennessee Highway Patrol Officials.
According to TDOT, the crash happened on the eastbound side of I-40 near mile marker 186 at 2:14 a.m.
THP officials said there were two crashes in the same area only seconds apart.
The first crash, which officials refer to as a “drive away/tow away” crash, involved a tow truck hauling two or more cars on it. Seconds later, the driver of a truck hauling 40,000 pounds of broccoli collided with the tow truck.
Officials say neither driver was seriously injured but were transferred to separate hospitals for treatment of minor injuries sustained in the crash.
The crash scene, however, will take until at least 12:30 p.m. to clear.
No other information has been released at this time.
