THP’s Bill Miller involved in hit-and-run in South Nashville

Lieutenant Bill Miller with the Tennessee Highway Patrol was involved in a hit-and-run accident in South Nashville Thursday morning.  

Officials told News 2 Miller was stopped at a red light at Fesslers Lane in his state vehicle when he was hit by another driver around 9:15 a.m.  

According to a release, 39-year-old Anthony Scott was attempting to make a right turn onto Fesslers Lane when he struck Lt. Miller’s patrol car. 

The release stated Miller got out of his patrol car and Scott backed up and started to leave the scene. 

Sgt. Billy Smith was sitting a few cars behind Lt. Miller and witnessed the crash. 

The Tennessee Highway Patrol said Scott tried to flee the scene. Miller and Smith were able to box him in at the intersection of Fesslers Lane and Interstate 40.

Scott was cited for leaving the scene and driving on a revoked license. 

Miller was not seriously injured and was taken to Vanderbilt University Medical Center to be checked out. He has since been treated and released.
