MT. JULIET, Tenn. (WKRN) – Police say they have arrested three teens who are believed to be involved in numerous vehicle burglaries at hotels in Mt. Juliet.

Around 4 a.m. on Wednesday, Dec. 28, Mt. Juliet Police announced they were investigating active vehicle burglaries at hotels located in the area of South Mt. Juliet Road and Crossing Circle. 

Officers said they were able to apprehend one teen upon arrival, but the rest fled the scene on foot.

The teens allegedly arrived at the area in a black Honda Ridgeline that was reported stolen from Nashville on Dec. 10 after the keys were left inside. Police said they were able to recover the stolen vehicle at the scene.

Just before 5 a.m., authorities made a statement that all of the alleged vehicle burglary suspects were in custody.

Police initially said two 16-year-olds and one 14-year-old were in custody. One of the juvenile suspects was reportedly armed with a handgun.

However, by Wednesday afternoon, authorities said the suspects were all 15 years old and from Nashville.

“Officers had initial difficulty gaining the actual age and identity of the suspects due to their lack of cooperation,” the department said in an update.

All three are reportedly charged with 19 counts of theft from a vehicle, possession of burglary tools, felony possession of marijuana and simple possession of a legend drug.

The armed juvenile also faces additional charges of unlawful possession of a firearm and possession of a stolen vehicle, officials said.

“The suspects were targeting large parking areas at hotels, busting windows of vehicles, and on the hunt for valuable items and unsecured guns. A total of 19 vehicles were burglarized around the hotels,” the Mt. Juliet Police Department stated. “Still, detectives are looking into the suspects’ involvement in additional burglaries that occurred at the Amazon distribution center on Golden Bear Gateway and in the Walton’s Grove neighborhood.”

All three teenagers remain in secure custody, according to police.
