The Tennessee Bureau of Investigation is investigating the circumstances around an officer-involved shooting in Williamson County.

Agents say a Williamson County deputy spotted a car that was wanted from Marshall County and tried to issue a traffic stop. After a short pursuit, the driver crashed into the woods at the end of Mullens Road.

TBI says the deputy tried to arrest the driver, but he brandished a knife. The deputy shot him in the leg. He was transported to a Nashville hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

The man was identified as Dalton Elam of Florence, Alabama.

TBI says they will work through the night on the investigation.
