BRENTWOOD, Tenn. (WKRN) – The Brentwood Police Department is offering a $2,000 reward for information leading to an arrest regarding a shooting that happened on Sept. 9 at a hotel.

Police said a man wearing a black hooded sweatshirt approached a vehicle at Homewood Suites, located in the 5100 block of Peter Taylor Park Drive, just after 11 p.m. The suspect then reportedly shot at the man sitting in the vehicle, hitting him in the right leg.

Brentwood Assistant Police Chief Jim Colvin told News 2 the victim and his girlfriend were visiting from Jackson for a concert. The victim was waiting for his girlfriend in the car when the suspect approached and shot him.

The victim and suspect did not know each other, according to police.

“This type of call is very rare in Brentwood,” Colvin said. “To have an actual victim of a shooting, especially when it’s someone that the victim does not know, there’s no personal relationship, that is a very, very rare crime here in Brentwood.”

According to the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation (TBI), Brentwood had 18 aggravated assaults in 2022, compared to Nashville, which had 6,414.

Investigators have not yet determined a motive for the shooting.

The first officer on scene rendered aid to the victim by applying a tourniquet to his leg. He remains in the hospital in critical but stable condition, according to Colvin.
