Police: Man may have been shot in the cheek in Madison

A man walked into an emergency room early Sunday morning with what police believe is a gunshot wound shot in the cheek.

According to Metro police, the man arrived and the Hendersonville Medical Center around 1:45 a.m. The man was assessed there and then transported to another local hospital where he met with a detective. 

The man told police he was standing outside with a friend near Ocoee Trail in Madison when they heard gunshots. The man said that when he left the area, he discovered he had been struck in the cheek and drove himself to the hospital. 

Officials say his injuries do not appear to be life-threatening.
