NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WKRN) - A man was killed when he was hit by a train in West Nashville Wednesday, city officials confirm.
The crash happened near the corner of Belle Meade Boulevard and Harding Place around 3 p.m.
Nashville Fire Dept. officials confirmed the victim, Michael Douglas Johnson, 49, of Nashville, was pronounced dead and the medical examiner was called to the scene.
According to Metro police, Johnson was walking on the train tracks just before he was hit.

According to CSX employees and witnesses, Johnson did not respond to the sound of the train's horn. Investigators recovered a set of earbuds and a broken cell phone near the body.
