Two officers suffered minor injuries during a physical altercation Thursday night at an apartment complex in Ashland City.

The Ashland City officers responded around 11 p.m. to a report of a female screaming at an apartment on Vantage Point Drive.

Police said the officers had been given a description of a man believe to be involved in an incident with the female.

When officers encountered that man at the apartment complex, they said he answered questions, but when they tried to speak with the female involved, the man shut the door in their faces.

The officers made entry into the apartment to check on the woman’s wellbeing and said they were involved in a physical altercation with the man.

Police said the two officers had “superficial wounds,” but one was taken to a hospital to be checked out.

The male suspect, whose name has not been released, was lodged in the Cheatham County jail on charges including assault on an officer, resisting arrest and vandalism of government property.
