National Weather Service survey finds straight line winds in Orlinda and Spring Hill, TN

The National Weather Service’s preliminary information from their storm surveys of Saturday’s damage in Orlinda, TN and Spring Hill, TN both find that straight line winds caused the damage. 

In Orlinda in Robertson County, winds of 65-75 mph occurred along an eight-mile-long path.

A path of various damage points started about three miles west of Orlinda and ended five miles east of town.

The path was up to one mile wide.

In addition, The National Weather Service’s preliminary information from their survey in Spring Hill found straight-line winds estimated as high as 80 mph. A microburst destroyed one barn and heavily damaged several others, as well as snapping and uprooting numerous trees.

The National Weather Service cautions that information is preliminary and is subject to change with further investigation.
