NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WKRN) — Metro police are searching for a man who they say shot his girlfriend early Friday morning, seriously injuring her.
It happened inside an apartment in the 1500 block of Porter Road just after 1 a.m. Police say 22-year-old Aury Newsom shot his girlfriend twice in the upper leg. The woman told police Newsom woke her up and started yelling at her, but she didn’t know why.
She then reportedly stood up and picked up their 3-month-old baby from a bassinet and told police she was shot while holding the baby.
Officers arrived on scene and applied a tourniquet to her leg before officials took her to Vanderbilt University Medical Center for treatment. Her injuries are non-life threatening and the baby was not injured, according to police.
Anyone who knows of Newsom’s whereabouts is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 615-742-7463.
