NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WKRN) — A man wanted for the murder of a woman inside her Madison apartment was captured Wednesday night.

Metro police reported Ricky Johnson was taken into custody for the September 2022 death of 28-year-old Trashai Siske.

The police department said investigators learned Johnson was driving into Nashville from Sumner County and were awaiting his arrival.

According to police, Johnson was driving a Honda Accord on I-40 Wednesday night when officers initiated a traffic stop near the Donelson Pike exit. Johnson pulled over briefly before speeding away.

While officers did not pursue him, a Tennessee Highway Patrol helicopter crew radioed the Honda was approaching the intersection of Moormans Arm Road and Buena Vista Pike. Officers went to the area and successfully deployed a spike strip, causing Johnson to lose control of the Honda and crash into an embankment, police said.

According to investigators, the helicopter crew watched Johnson run and try to hide himself in the backyard of a home on Boatner Drive. A K-9 team took him into custody moments later.

Siske was found shot multiple times inside her Sealy Drive apartment on Sept. 1, 2022. A witness told officers they heard an argument prior to hearing several gunshots, according to police.

“I don’t want people to focus on the who, or the why. I just want people to focus on her because she was freaking amazing, and I will never be the same,” Siske’s mother told News 2.

“Why? Why did you take my best friend, why did you take my grandkids’ mama?” Siske’s mother asked. “I just want to know why.”

Johnson is being held on a $503,500 bond and is charged with criminal homicide and evading arrest.

He also has an extensive criminal record that spans from 2004 to 2011 and has faced charges of first- and second-degree murder.
