The nonprofit has seven truckloads of supplies ready to ship. This includes a variety of foods, clothing, cleaning supplies and much more.

“We’re waiting for the water to recede and for this thing to pass through,” Executive Director Mike Lewis said. “They have to get search and rescue done first, and then they have to lift evacuation order.”

Church of Christ Relief Effort, Inc. has helped provide aid to disasters across the country. Some of the most high-profile hurricanes they have responded to include Hurricane Sandy and Hurricane Katrina. Inside their Nashville warehouse, they have a map showing all the disasters they have responded to.

“It is a very emotional time for them,” Lewis said. “We tell them, we are there to help them with their needs, whatever they are.”

Church of Christ Relief Effort, Inc. is also in contact with a Puerto Rico church. Hurricane Ian devastated Puerto Rico, prior to hitting Florida.
