NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WKRN) — Less than 48 hours after a missing swimmer was recovered from Percy Priest Lake, Nashville crews found the body of another person who disappeared out on the water.

First responders were dispatched to Party Cove at approximately 3:20 p.m. on Saturday, May 27, for reports of a water rescue.

The Nashville Fire Department told News 2 that crews were searching for a person who was last seen going underwater in that area around 3:15 p.m. Saturday.

On Sunday, May 28, just before 12:30 p.m., the Nashville Emergency Operations Center/Office of Emergency Management (EOC/OEM) said the missing swimmer was recovered in the same area where crews recovered a different swimmer two days earlier.

According to officials, during the search for the first missing swimmer, units responded to an area of the lake near the 4000 block of Anderson Road shortly after 5:30 p.m. on Thursday, May 25.

Crews spent hours searching for that swimmer before the Nashville EOC/OEM announced around 7 p.m. on Friday, May 26, that first responders “successfully recovered” him.

“A rescue can be carried out when people are obviously alive or are considered able to survive,” officials explained in a Sunday afternoon tweet. “A recovery is made when people are known to be deceased or not able to survive.”

Emergency crews used sonar and drones to aid in both searches.

The victims’ identities are unknown at this time. No additional details have been provided.
