Mayor Cooper to review Briley’s executive order on immigration

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WKRN) — Nashville Mayor John Cooper has ordered a 90-day review for former Mayor Briley’s controversial Executive Order 11.

The order prohibited Metro agencies and employees from assisting immigration officers or border patrol agents where they could, under the law.

Former Mayor Briley used the final days of his campaign to tell city employees not to work with immigration agents unless they legally had to. He also called for a reversal of Tennessee law that punishes so-called sanctuary cities.
