NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WKRN) – A 26-year-old was killed and two others, including a teenager, were hurt in a shooting in East Nashville Friday afternoon.
Metro police said two groups exchanged gunfire around 1:15 p.m. at the Cayce Homes on South Eighth Street.
Travis Rosemond, 26, of Whites Creek Pike, was hit and reportedly ran to a nearby Buick and got in the front passenger’s seat, which is where authorities found him.
Rosemond was transported to Vanderbilt University Medical Center where he died. Police said he was visiting a friend at Cayce Homes when the shooting happened.
Two other people, Montel Sowell and a 14-year-old, both of whom live at or near the housing development, were hit by the gunfire. One was shot in the stomach and the other in the arm.
They were transported to Vanderbilt University Medical Center where police say they’re expected to recover.
Detectives are still working to identify other young men who were present at the time of the shooting. A motive has not yet been determined.
News 2 previously covered a shooting in 2015 where Rosemond was also shot in the Cayce Homes.
Former Cayce resident Black Diamond says the violence is why she left Cayce Homes.
“My son was 14 when we moved here and when he started picking up bad habits,” she told News 2. “I just think about that and think that child who got shot could be my son.”
Anyone with information about this Rosemond’s murder is asked to contact Crime Stoppers at 615-742-7463. Callers to Crime Stoppers can remain anonymous and qualify for a cash reward.
