Man in custody after ambulance stolen from Saint Thomas Midtown

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WKRN) — A man was taken into custody, accused of stealing an ambulance from outside Saint Thomas Midtown Hospital early Monday morning.  

Metro police reported the Nashville Fire Department ambulance crew was dropping off a patient at the hospital around 2:45 a.m.  

The suspect reportedly exited the hospital, hopped into the ambulance and drove away.  

Authorities tracked the ambulance, which is equipped with tracking technology, to the Music Row area where the suspect began blaring the horn. 

The man, later identified as 38-year-old Thomas Luu, surrendered to police near a high-rise building at Chet Atkins Place and 20th Avenue South around 3:30 a.m. 

No additional information was immediately released.
