A man died after a fire at a Sevierville cabin Monday night.
According to the City of Sevierville, the fire started at a long-term rental cabin on Walini Way around 8 p.m. Monday.
Gunter Seils was killed in the blaze. Maureen Seils was able to escape through a bedroom window and wasn’t hurt.
Firefighters arrived at the home fully involved in the fire. About an hour into their operations, the blaze was reignited when the upper floor and roof collapsed.
A nearby home was also evacuated and suffered minor fire damage. The resident was later allowed to return to the residence.
The cause of the fire is under investigation. This is a developing story and we’ll continue to update the details as they become available.
