Hatchet attack at Nashville homeless camp

Metro police say two men in a homeless camp near Nissan Stadium got into a fight Saturday that ended with a hatchet attack.

Police said that 52-year-old Derrick Jackson was intoxicated and yelling when he lit part of a tent on fire prior to the attack.

The victim told police he was trying to check on the woman inside the tent when he and Jackson began arguing. 

Witnesses told police that Jackson then took a hatchet and hit the victim in the head, 

The condition of the victim was not immediately released. 

Jackson was arrested and is charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon.
