A chair in the middle of Interstate 65 may have set off a crash that took the life of a young woman Friday morning.
The accident happened during the morning rush, shortly before 8 a.m.
Lacey Mathes, 26, was driving to work when the accident happened.
According to her sister, Melissa Mathes, Lacey swerved to avoid the chair in the road. Somehow her car crossed the median and landed in the path of oncoming traffic.
Lacey was hit by a pickup truck. She was pinned in her car and died at the scene.
Melissa shared this photo of Lacey with News 2. The 26-year old woman was a medical assistant at TriStar Medical in Spring Hill.
Interstate 65 North in Spring Hill was shut down for hours. The highway was set to re-open around 2 p.m.
