Keeping his word, Nashville Mayor David Briley turned his Twitter account over to Winnipeg’s mayor on Friday afternoon after a loss in Game 7.

“On behalf of the city and our incredible fans, I want to thank the Preds for fighting the good fight and delivering another great season of hockey,” Briley said in a release. “The Predators have done us proud. Unfortunately, as we lick our wounds today, I must also live up to my bet with Winnipeg Mayor Brian Bowman.”

In his last tweet before handing the account back over to Mayor Briley, Bowman wrote in part, “And congratulations again to @PredsNHL on their great season! And now, back to our regular programming, which I’m sure @visitmusiccity will appreciate!”

The Nashville Predators fell short to the Winnipeg Jets Thursday night 5-1.
