FRANKLIN, Tenn. (WKRN) — Mud, grit and tradition were the order of the day for students at Battle Ground Academy.
More than 350 Upper School students battled it out in a Tug of War over the Harpeth River in Franklin Tuesday afternoon.
The students at BGA have been taking part in the annual Tug of War for 81 years.
This is one of the school’s oldest traditions that pits two literary societies against each other.
The Greers and the Platos staged their first “Tug” back in 1935.
The Greers won Tuesday, as dozens of people watched from a bridge over the river.
They also compete in quiz bowls, arm wrestling and community service drives throughout the year.
