3 residents displaced after South Nashville apartment fire

An early morning apartment fire in South Nashville forced 3 people out of their homes.

The Red Cross was called in to help residents of 2 units at the Ellington Apartments after fire crept up the wall just before 6 a.m. 

Officials on the scene said the residents were sleeping and reported hearing a loud noise before flames broke out. 

Fire officials are still investigating what started the fire.
