NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WKRN) — A man was killed after being hit by a train in Antioch early Monday morning.

The incident was reported just after 3:30 a.m. on the railroad tracks near Hickory Hollow Parkway, right off Interstate 24.

First responders said a man was hit by a train. They later confirmed he was pronounced dead as a result of his injuries.

CSX is investigating and released the following statement to News 2 on Monday morning:

“Today, at approximately 4:33 a.m. ET, a CSX train headed north struck a person on the railroad tracks near Crossing Blvd and Mount View Rd in Nashville, TN. Nashville Metro Police Department responded to the scene and confirmed that the individual was fatally injured. CSX personnel continue to support local law enforcement in their investigation of this incident. We appreciate the prompt response provided by the local authorities and extend our thoughts to those impacted by this tragic event.”

No additional information was immediately released.
