1 dead in crash on I-24 in Rutherford County

RUTHERFORD COUNTY, Tenn. (WKRN) – One person is dead after a crash involving multiple vehicles on Interstate 24 eastbound in Rutherford County.

TDOT says the crash happened at around 7:17 p.m.at mile marker 66 near Sam Ridley Parkway.

The Tennessee Highway Patrol says the preliminary investigation reveals a Honda ASE and a Dodge Ram pickup truck were traveling east on I-24 when the Honda hit the truck while trying to change lanes.

The collision caused the truck to roll before coming to a stop in the roadway. The Honda came to a stop in the grass median.

The driver of the truck, identified as 58-year-old Patrick Korte of Murfreesboro, died at the scene. The driver of the Honda was not injured.

Eastbound lanes on I-24 were down to one lane for quite some time. The interstate has since been cleared.
