Knoxville police find 7-year-old reported kidnapped from Michigan

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (WATE) - Knoxville police officers recovered a 7-year-old boy who had been kidnapped in Michigan thanks to a tip.

The Knoxville Police Department said they received information that a child kidnapped from Ann Arbor, Michigan, was possibly in the Central Avenue Pike area. Officers circled the area and found the suspect's vehicle in the 5400 Central Avenue Pike and they stopped the vehicle.

The child was recovered from the vehicle and the suspect was arrested. The suspect was identified as Connie Franzel, the child's adopted mother. She has been charged with kidnapping and being a fugitive from justice.

Tennessee DCS is working with Michigan DCS to return the child to his proper guardian in Michigan. The suspect will also be extradited to Michigan.
