HOPKINSVILLE, Ky. (WKRN) — A 19-year-old woman admitted to shooting and killing a 23-year-old man Thursday night at a residence in Hopkinsville, police say.
Anshanique Leavell, known as "Fish," was arrested around 1:30 a.m. Friday on charges of murder and receiving stolen property.
Hopkinsville police responded just before midnight to a report of shots fired at an apartment on Greenville Road at Mason Street.
When officers arrived, they said they found the 23-year-old victim, identified as Amareya Freeman, unresponsive with an apparent gunshot wound to his chest.
Freeman was transported to Jennie Stuart Medical Center where he was pronounced dead from his injuries, police said.
When Leavell was taken into custody, police said they located a stolen handgun on her.
The 19-year-old suspect was lodged in the Christian County jail.
