BRISTOL, Tenn. (WJHL) – Over 40,000 packed the stands of Bristol Motor Speedway for a larger than life tailgate party as fans gear up for Saturday night’s Battle at Bristol.

Headliner, Kenny Chesney, is an ETSU graduate and he said that’s where he first learned to love country music.

Greeneville natives, The Band Perry hit the Bristol Motor Speedway stage as well. Siblings Reid, Neil and Kimberly said they were excited to perform with Kenny Chesney.

“We were asked about it about a year ago and to see all the preparations come together and that gigantic screen that they’ve put up, it’s pretty impressive to see what they’ve been able to do. We haven’t gotten to do a show with Kenny Chesney yet, He’s another East Tennessee boy so there’s just a lot of East Tennessee love. We’ve done a couple of hometown shows but probably not one in about a year so this will be a really nice kind of homecoming.”

The Perry’s said they will be at Saturday’s game to cheer on the Vols. The Battle at Bristol will broadcast Saturday, Sept. 10 on News 2 at 7 p.m. Central. Click here for full coverage of the game.
