NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WKRN) – Former Vanderbilt quarterback Jay Cutler was in Nashville Saturday to host a football camp at Pope John Paul II High School.

Cutler sponsored several kids with diabetes to attend the camp. His message for them was that diabetes shouldn’t hold anyone back from what they want, and he is living proof of that.

A diabetic himself, Cutler said “If we can have some fun out here and maybe learn a thing or two, and if we can help just one kid with diabetes realize that ‘hey, it’s not the end of the road, I can do anything I want in this world’ it makes it worth it.”

Cutler teamed up with former Vandy teammate Justin Geisinger, who is now the head coach at JPII, to host the camp and says he is happy to be back in Music City.

“We haven’t really done a lot of things in Nashville or the Tennesee area so this area and Vanderbilt is dear to my heart. So we wanted to kind of start getting involved down here. Anytime you can combine football and kids and have some fun with it, it makes it worth while,” Cutler told News 2.
