The investigation is continuing into why a driverless tractor-trailer rolled into an East Nashville home Thursday afternoon, hitting and killing a man.

Police said the tractor-trailer rolled from Jarrett Construction and hit the Cherokee Avenue home around 4:15 p.m.

Employees reported they were loading a large paver onto the tractor-trailer when it began rolling toward the house where David Davis was sitting on the front porch.

His wife said Davis, 46, was on the phone just before the crash.

The crash remains under investigation. The Tennessee Highway Patrol is assisting in the investigation.

Davis’ wife and two grandchildren were inside the home at the time. They were not injured.
