Inmates charged in DeKalb County jail attack

Three inmates have been charged with assault in connection with an attack on another inmate earlier this month at the DeKalb County jail.

The DeKalb County Sheriff said 20-year-old Emma Flesher, 26-year-old Natalie Barrett and 40-year-old Rebecca Pelfrey ganged up on another inmate, pulling her off the top bunk in a cell, then hitting and kicking her in the back and head while she was on the floor.

Bond for all three inmates has been set at $2,500. They are expected in court later this month.

At the time of the attack, Flesher was jailed on charges of burglary, theft of property and four counts of fraudulent use of a credit card.

The sheriff said Flesher stole a 2001 Chevy Impala from Parkway Drive in Smithville on March 30.

She is accused of using a debit card found in the vehicle at four locations in Woodbury and Murfreesboro.

Flesher is expected in court Thursday on those charges
