WILSON COUNTY, Tenn. (WKRN) – A male inmate was found dead in his cell at the Wilson County jail early Thursday morning.

Wilson County correctional officers discovered Joseph Lee, 37, unresponsive in his bed around 2:15 a.m.

Medical staff performed CPR and administered an automatic external defibrillator on Lee, who did not respond.

Lee was transported to University Medical Center where he was pronounced dead. His body will be taken to the state medical examiner’s office where an autopsy will be performed to determine cause of death.

Lee was in jail for charges of failure to appear on a second DUI offence, simple possession and DUI following his arrest on Oct. 7.
