Tennessee State University linebacker Christion Abercrombie has been hospitalized at Vanderbilt University Medical Center since the Sept. 29 game against Vanderbilt.

The linebacker was rushed to the emergency room after sustaining a head injury at some point during the game. He went to the sideline and collapsed.

Abercrombie has been fighting since then. TSU football tweeted Sunday that Abercrombie was upgraded to stable condition.

The school also says he has been off a ventilator for 24 hours and is breathing on his own.
