Injured TSU football player undergoes surgery to repair part of skull

Christion Abercrombie, the Tennessee State University football player who was injured in a game earlier this season, underwent surgery Friday morning to repair a part of his skull.

Abercrombie’s mom tweeted he was out of surgery and recovering well. She also thanked everyone for their support and prayers.

Abercrombie suffered a serious brain injury during the Sept. 29 game against Vanderbilt University.

Earlier this week he seemingly took to Twitter for the first time, saying, “I am him! And God is good all the time. Thank you, everyone, for the prayers.”

The college football player was transported to a rehab center in mid-October after receiving treatment at Vanderbilt University Medical Center.

His family previously said they were leaning on their faith as their son recovers.
