A semi hauling mail caught fire and closed a portion of Interstate 24 in Joelton Monday morning.
The fire began around 4:45 a.m. near the Old Hickory Boulevard exit at the bridge over Lickton Pike.
Metro police told News 2 the driver said he hydroplaned, striking a brick wall before the truck jacknifed and burst into flames.
The driver was able to escape to safety. He was taken to TriStar Skyline Medical Center with non-life threatening injuries.
No additional information was immediately released.
The westbound lanes were partially blocked until the wreckage can be removed.
