Police and FBI responding to active shooter at UPS facility in New Jersey

LOGAN TOWNSHIP, N.J. (AP) — Police surrounded the loading dock area of a UPS facility in New Jersey in response to a reported active shooter.

Television images showed police cars surrounding the loading dock area of the building in Logan Township, about 20 miles (32 kilometers) south of Philadelphia.

Armed officers could be seen crouching behind one of the vehicles.

The situation lasted more than three hours, according to WPVI TV in Philadelphia. Two women were taken hostage by the suspect, while other employees were evacuated. 

The standoff ended when the suspect was shot around Noon Eastern. It is not clear whether police shot the gunman or whether he shot himself. The suspect has been taken to a local hospital. There is no word on his condition. 

A Gloucester Country fire official told local news the situation involved a fight between two individuals inside the facility.

Schools in the area were put on a modified lockdown during the incident.
