NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WKRN) – Veterans from across Middle Tennessee received the royal treatment when they were whisked off to Washington D.C. as part of an “honor flight’ Saturday morning.

The group took off from Nashville International Airport around 6 a.m.

They will spend the day visiting war monuments along the National Mall.

“It kind of brings them closure. Without this program, these memorials they are their memorials and without this program, they would probably never get to visit those memorials in Washington D.C.,” said organizer Mike Flood.

The group will return to Nashville around 9:30 p.m. Saturday.
